Papas, Donita G. 84, of New Hope, passed away peacefully at NorthRidge Care Center on Monday, January 2. Born August 23, 1938 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Bernhardt and Genevieve Beguhn, she grew up in Indiana and attended New Castle Chrysler High School before majoring in home economics at what is now UW-Stout. There she met and married Robert F. "Bob" Papas, with whom she enjoyed a loving 53-year marriage. She raised four children - Susan, Jeffrey, Amy and Jennifer - and then as an empty-nester went back to work, spending nearly 20 years as a hostess at Lone Spur Grill in Minnetonka. She also volunteered for many years as a hearing tester in the Hopkins school district. She was very active in Masonic women's organizations, as a proud member of Mat-Sha Temple No. 62, Daughters of the Nile, and served as a past guardian of Bethel 41, International Order of Job's Daughters, St. Louis Park. She is preceded in death by her brothers Richard and Gerald; her beloved husband Bob, who passed away in 2012; children Susan (Gayle); Jeff, Amy (Scott), Jennifer and grandchildren Michael (Daneil), Alex, Kirsten, Richard and Joey. Donita's family wishes to thank the staff at NorthRidge and the ladies of the "Mighty Mat-Sha" for their care, concern and love, and most especially the staff of St. Croix Hospice for their expert advice and gentle manner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Donita's favorite charities, World Central Kitchen and Underdog Rescue Private interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery on Monday, January 9.
