Hansen, Mary P. Dearly loved, Mary, age 65, resident of Plymouth passed away November 28, 2022. Preceded in death by father, William G. Kelly. Mary taught German and Social Studies at Saint Agnes School for 10 years. She was passionate about sharing her knowledge of the world and German language and culture with her students. She retired from teaching to focus on her health and to help care for family. A multi-talented person, Mary enjoyed learning to play multiple instruments. As an undergrad at the University of Minnesota she studied Ethnomusicology and played in the Pride of Minnesota Marching Band. Mary went on to earn her M.Ed. from the University of St. Thomas. She loved drawing, coloring, painting, and using pastels. Mary also wrote short stories, including children's stories she would share with her daughter. Mary's sense of adventure led her to travel and live in various parts of the United States and Germany. She possessed a strong appreciation for nature and would spend hours observing, and naming, the wildlife that frequented her backyard. Her love of animals provided her many companions over the years including numerous dogs, rabbits, cats, and other pets. A person who was filled with compassion, love, and generosity, she was a loving mother who supported her family and friends through good and bad times. Her unique humor brought a smile to those around her and kept her spirits up despite her many health challenges. Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survived by daughter, Greta Hansen; Mother, Margaret Kelly; Siblings, Bill Kelly (Vera), Kevin Kelly (Casey), Brendan Kelly (Marie), Margaret Kelly Plummer (Dave), and Maureen Kelly Wadleigh (Dave); Niece, Shannon Bates (Hunter). The funeral is to be held at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 630 Wayzata Blvd East, Wayzata on December 29th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. The Funeral Mass begins at 11:00 am with lunch reception to follow the Mass at the same location. Interment will take place at a future date in July.
