Geist, Wayne of New Brighton, Minnesota died on June 2, 2022, one day before his 80th birthday as a result of cancer. He will be greatly missed by his lifelong companion, Janet Schieffer; children, David Geist (Rogers MN), Trista Schieffer (Milford, MI), and Kris Schieffer (Nicole) Shoreview, MN; grandchildren, Dawson, Rachel and Johanna Geist, McKenzie Morey, Ronan Schieffer and Noah Kahl and great- granddaughters Mara and Eyla Geist. He leaves behind his brothers Dale (Posie) Geist, Gary (Mary Joan) Geist, and Diane (Robert) Benner. Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter Tamaura Geist. Wayne was a hardworking man with quick wit and creative talents. Born in California, he was the son of the late Alice (Babler) Geist (MaPa). Growing up he loved working with his hands, a true gift that made him a successful partner in MGS Machines, a manufacturing company of pick and place packaging equipment, Maple Grove, MN. He watched the company prosper from three partners to 100 employees. When he wasn't designing packaging feeders, Wayne loved collecting old padlocks and keys, restoring a Model A, designing custom cabinets and marble gaming towers. He displayed his talents with exact replicated and enlarged working padlocks fabricated from wood. He also loved spending time with family and friends, cooking and always had a story ready to share about his hobbies and adventures. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, 2250 St Anthony Blvd NE, Minneapolis, MN, 55418. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 11:30 am at Nativity Church, 3312 Silver Lake Road NE, St Anthony, MN 55418.
