Audette, Roger James On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, Roger James Audette, 81, passed away in Minneapolis, surrounded by his family. Roger was born in Duluth, MN, Sep. 11, 1940. Despite being blinded by illness as a 2-year-old, he went on to earn degrees in political science, economics, and history at the University of Minnesota. He worked as a computer programmer for General Mills for 5 years and for the U.S. Forest Service for 26 years. On June 19, 1965, he married Dorothy Stark in Duluth, MN. Though they eventually bought a house and settled down in Minneapolis, they were not in a hurry. They went on bus tours around the U.S., and went to numerous performances by Del Shannon, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Johnny Tillotson, the Gatlin Brothers and many others. Roger shared his love for music with Dorothy, a love he would later share with their children. Roger was a devoted father and grandfather. For many years, Roger was an active member of Annunciation Church in Minneapolis. He was a lector, member of the Men's group and prayer group. As a long-term hobby, he enjoyed making rosaries while listening to the Twins, Vikings, Gophers, or Timberwolves games. Over the years, he made and donated over 20,000 rosaries that made their way to U.S. prisons and countries across the globe. Roger was a member of the Toastmasters where he practiced his award-winning speaking skills, and most importantly, got feedback on his dad jokes. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Vincent; daughters, Vanessa (Benjamin), and Veronica; and two grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, April 27th at 11 AM ~ Church of the Annunciation, 509 West 54th Street, with visitation 1 hour prior to mass.
