Meyer, Thore Peter age 95, was born Per Thore Olsson, on November 20, 1926 in Stora Skedvi, Dalarna, Sweden to parents Albert Verner Olsson and Signe Cecelia (Norrblom) Olsson. He passed away peacefully on December 27, 2021 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital surrounded by his family. He immigrated to the US in 1928 and was a lifelong resident of Buffalo, MN. A graduate of Buffalo High school, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in California. When discharged, he completed his degree in Civil Engineering at the University of MN. Thore worked as a Civil Engineer in the Minneapolis area before building his own firm in Buffalo. He met his sweetheart, Joyce Ida Vergin, in high school and fell in love as he tutored her in Physics, a required course for pursuing her nursing career. They were married on September 1, 1948, in Buffalo, MN. God blessed their marriage with four children. An entrepreneur businessman, Thore worked tirelessly to build his engineering firm providing engineering services to Buffalo and surrounding communities. A lifelong member at Buffalo Covenant Church, he served in many roles, and his love for the Lord was demonstrated as he shared his love deeply with family and friends. His later years were marked by caring for Joyce through her journey with Alzheimers Disease and also visiting friends that were homebound. Thore intentionally invested in the lives of his children and grandchildren and they returned the investment. He attended many activities to discover their unique interests, whether cheering on their sport endeavors, touring their work settings, learning to pickle beets, exploring their love for smoking meats, as a travel companion especially introducing them to his homeland Sweden, and sharing their mutual love for the Minnesota Gophers. An avid Gopher fan, Thore held season tickets for Gopher football and basketball for over 60 years. Survived by children: Paul (Laurie) Meyer, David (Dawn) Meyer, Beth (Robert) Bjork, Jeffrey (Kelly) Meyer; thirteen grandchildren: Rachel (Judd) Stevens, Erik (Kerstin) Meyer, Travis (Dana) Meyer, Adam (Aida Naderi) Meyer, Corey Meyer, Brooke (Josh) Curb, Cole (Claire) Meyer, Allyson (Trent) Pearson, Kristen (Jared) Penz, Benjamin (Erin) Bjork, Layne (Elliott) Johnson, Kurt (Lucy Bullock) Meyer, Weston Meyer; thirteen great grandchildren; brother in law, Bill Bosacker; and many other relatives and friends both in the US and Sweden. Preceded in death by: his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce; his parents; his sister, Karen Holmquist Bosacker; and brother-in-law, Willys Holmquist. Memorial service Monday, January 3, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Buffalo Covenant Church, Buffalo, MN with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
