Mathwig, Jerry E. Jerry Mathwig, an exceptional husband, father and business leader, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021. Jerry was a skilled entrepreneur with an intense work ethic helping him become one of largest independent copier dealers in the United States. He was respected by his employees and appreciated by his business colleagues and friends. Jerry was a regular guy, that downplayed his success; never forgetting about where he came from and the difficulties he experienced in his adolescence. His humble beginnings were never far from his mind leaving an appreciation for the little guy. Jerry was born in Fairmont, Minnesota on July 18, 1939. Jerry served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division. After leaving the military, he started a sky diving club in Minnesota and worked construction. He then decided it was time to stop jumping from airplanes and start a family and career. He met his wife (Karen Mathwig) on a blind date in Grand Rapids, Michigan- it was love at first site and they married within a year. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Twin Cities and started a family and a businesses (Metro Sales Inc., NA Trading). Jerry will always be remembered for giving back generously!! Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Clarence Keck Mathwig, and father, Fred Mathwig; as well as his sister Mary Kelly. Jerry is survived by his wife Karen Mathwig, Brother Roger Mathwig, three sons Mike Mathwig (Kristy Durand), Jamie Mathwig and Mark Mathwig Grandchildren - Ashley Lindholm (Aaron Lindholm), Luke Mathwig, Mallory Mathwig and Mollie Shea Mathwig. Great Grandchildren - Finley, Cora and Regan Lindholm. Services will be private. Memorials are preferred to Wounded Warrior Project, Ronald McDonald House, Humane Society and Can Do Cannines.
