Ferrington, Dr. Leonard C. Jr. Esteemed U of Minnesota Prof. of Entomology Dr. Leonard Charles Ferrington, Jr., 73, passed away unexpectedly on 9/11/21. Len was born in 1948 in Murrysville, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dr. Deborah Ferrington (Stinner); daughter, Dr. Ashley LaBore (Beau); son, Len Ferrington, III (Lindsay) and granddaughter, Leah. Len joined the US Marine Corps in 1966 and served in Vietnam earning several medals, including a Purple Heart. He achieved a Doctorate in Entomology, and held tenured academic positions at U of Kansas and U of Minnesota. Len was recently recognized with the Fulbright Fellow award for research in Finland. Len pursued excellence in all aspects of his life with passion and vigor. He was a loving family man, mentor, traveler, exercise enthusiast, cyclist, boating captain, music aficionado, and ballroom dancer - a Modern Day Renaissance Man. Visitation on Wednesday, September 22nd from 4 PM to 8 PM at Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home, 515 W. Hwy 96, Shoreview. Funeral Ceremony honoring his life on Thursday, September 23rd at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial with full Military Honors on Thursday, September 23rd at 1 PM at Ft Snelling National Cemetery.
