Swenson, David David Swenson, 53, of St. Louis Park, MN, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2021, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. David was born in South Bend, Indiana, and graduated from Armstrong High School in Plymouth, Minnesota. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Boston College and went on to complete both his Masters in Environmental Studies and his Juris Doctorate at the University of Minnesota. Early in his career, David served as a law clerk to The Honorable Giles Rich and The Honorable Pauline Newman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He then thrived in his chosen field of intellectual property law, handling complex trials and appeals for companies of all sizes and across many industries, especially the technology sector. He became a partner at major law firms, including Kirkland & Ellis, in Washington DC; Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi in Minneapolis; and most recently Patterson Thuente IP, also in Minneapolis. David was a brilliant attorney, trusted mentor, and engaging conversationalist who never ran out of incisive questions, witty observations, or fitting tall-tales. David married the love of his life, Angela Flatgard, in 2013, and the couple was blessed with three beautiful children. They will remember him for his silly daddy jokes and beginning every single day with a kiss on the forehead and the question, "Do you know how much Daddy loves you?" An avid soccer player, recreational skier, and discriminating foodie, David knew how to get the most out of life. But his love for his family and his trust in God were the defining qualities that will continue to inspire all who knew him. David is survived by his devoted wife Angela Swenson, and their three young children: Hendrick (6), Eliana (5), and Samuel (1). David is also survived by his father and mother, Paul and Barbara Swenson of New Hope, MN, his brother Robert (Wendy) Swenson and nephews Owen and Zach Swenson of Mill Valley, CA, his mother-in-law Marsha Flatgard of Bloomington, MN; and many more loved ones, family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, July 1, at Holy Family Catholic Church. A memorial fund has been set up for his young children. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
