Hofstrand, Dr. Harold James "Skip" passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020 in Duluth, MN. Born on November 14, 1939 to Harold and Margaret (Smith) Hofstrand, Skip graduated from St. Louis Park High School and received his BA, MD and PhD degrees from the University of MN. Although he practiced in many areas of medicine, Skip spent most of his career as an Emergency Room physician. His kind spirit, listening ear and diagnostic expertise made him an accomplished healer. Skip was also a talented artist, author, musician and teacher, developing the "nuministic" style of painting that embodied the spirit of its subjects. With a lifelong love of the outdoors and conservation, Skip spent much time in the wilderness and climbed Devil's Tower in Wyoming more than once. Skip is survived by his two daughters, Dawn and Shannon, grandchildren and many beloved friends. Memorials to the Skip Hofstrand Scholarship Fund at the Steger Wilderness Center, 2008 Portland Ave., St. Paul, MN 55104.
