Holmgren, Eleanor E. Born August 21, 1938 in Minneapolis, passed away September 12, 2020. Predeceased by parents Bernard and Elphie Bryngelson, and great-granddaughter Elaine Grace Holmgren. Survived by husband Wendell of 63 years, sister Janet Paterson, children Greg (Susan), Tim (Beth), and Beth (Mike), ten grandchildren (Jon, Bryan, Elsa, Katherine, Bergren, Jason, Alex, Rachel, Ben, and Linsey), and three great-grandchildren (Gloriana, Georgia, and Shepherd). Eleanor was a graduate of West High School and, after raising three children, worked in several different capacities in the medical administration field. Known as Ellie to her many close friends, those fortunate enough to attend one of her parties know she was a skilled bread baker, especially cardamom bread. She loved to cook, bake, and entertain, finding any reason to celebrate so she could bring groups of people together in her home. Ellie loved to feed great food to all people. She truly mastered the dinner party, making entertaining look effortless, whether the dinner was for 5 or 50 people. She loved to travel with her family and enjoyed trips to Alaska and Sweden. She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, so her favorite travels were to actively participate in the grandkids school and sports events, whether the trip was 5 miles or 1000 miles. Eleanor was a very active member of Bloomington Covenant Church. She enjoyed singing in the sanctuary choir, working at closet of Hope and other ministries, and always answering the call to cook or cater events. Eleanor and Wendell sold their home in Edina in 2019, where they had lived for 55 years, and moved into Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington. Private interment. Memorials may be directed to VEAP or Bloomington Covenant Church. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
