Forby, Daniel Sr. of West Bloomington, on September 12th, 2020.Preceded in death by 2 baby boys, parents Emil and Lucille, Sister Eileen Paquin, in-laws Stanley and Genevieve Mirocha and his two best friends Jerry Louiselle and Jim Lupient.Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Carol, children and spouses. Dan Jr and Cindee, Cheri and Mark Peterson, Jay and Tawney Mary and fiancé Scott Fisher, Tim and Tammy. Six grandchildren, Kelly, Matthew, Christopher, Stephanie, Thomas and Andrew. One great grandson, Lincoln, also nieces, nephews, cousins and a world of friends. Dan knew no strangers.He was born and raised in North Minneapolis, graduate of St Thomas Military Academy Class of 1952 and attended the US Naval Academy. He had a successful 33 year career as a State Farm Agent. He has spent 26 plus years in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary - among assignments - teaching boat safety, patrolling the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers as part of Homeland Security.In 1997, he commanded the Coast Guard Communication Center helping flood victims in Fargo & Moorhead. Longtime volunteer with Twin Cities Race for the Cure, St Patrick parish activities, Catholic Eldercare, St Hedwig’s pierogi group and teaching Defensive Driving to 55 and older citizens and boat safety classes. A man of many talents Dan had a very strong faith which sustained him thru health issues in recent years, he was one to never complain. His family was the most important part of his life; traveling with Carol especially to the North Shore attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren in wind, rain or snow. He was loved by all who knew him, a kind man with a huge heart!Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial, Friday September 18th at 1:00 PM at the Church of St Patrick in Edina located at Gleason and Valley View Roads. Visitation 11:00-1:00 pm masks are required and social distancing enforced. Burial at Fort Snelling at a later date.
