Goodale, Katherine D. of Minneapolis, MN died peacefully at home on July 22, 2020. Dancer, teacher, supporter of the arts, and author. Preceded in death by husband, Robert and daughter-in-law, Leslie. Survived by children, Anne (Peter), Kit (Bill), Margaret (Randy), and Bob; grandchildren, Max, Julia, Jane, Grant and Grace Ann; extended family and many good friends. Kathie's 40-plus year dance career started when she was the only dance major at her small college. She went on to study with Martha Graham, José Limon, and at Jacob's Pillow. In the 1950's she started a dance school in her home town. In 1961 Kathie and her husband moved to Minnesota. She danced with the Contemporary Dance Playhouse (Minnesota Dance Theater), where she later served on the faculty. She was instrumental in founding Ballet Arts Minnesota, designing and implementing the young children's program. She helped establish their City Children's Nutcracker Project; she and her husband even danced in the first act. She served on the boards of Ballet Arts and Link Vostok. Dance took Kathie around the world. She performed in Minneapolis, New York, Vienna, France, Japan, and Russia. She danced in her 80's at The Walker Art Center, Bryant Lake Bowl and the Cowles Center. An enthusiastic supporter of the arts, Kathie attended thousands of performances in the Twin Cities. She always showed up no matter how small the venue or new the artist. Her children used to joke that it was impossible to reach her in the evening. A lover of visual art, she was a tour guide at the Walker Art Center. Collaborating with her daughter, Kit, and son-in-law, Bill, Kathie just wrote her fifth book, "Japanese Folktales," to be published soon. Her other books include "Pas de Trois: Fun with Ballet Words," "The Rabbit and the Turtle: A Story in Dance," "Da Capo al Fine: Fun with Musical Terms," and "Cook Up a Dance." She will be missed by family and friends. Private family service. Memorial service for family and friends at a later date. GILLBROTHERS.com MINNEAPOLIS, MN 612-861-6088
