He was a graduate of St. Albert the Great elementary school and De La Salle High School in Minneapolis and the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul. He served active duty in the 47th Infantry Division in 1951 and 1952. He met Betty Nell on a blind date, they married in 1955 and began their family. He achieved success in three careers, each 17 years long, in account management with the Campbell Mithun advertising agency, as a Vice President with Norwest Corporation (Wells Fargo) and as an administrator and adjunct professor with the Univer-sity of St. Thomas Graduate School of Business. His Catholic faith was a cornerstone of his life and he was a long-time member of Annunciation parish in Minneapolis.
