Cronin, Carlton Richard, Jr. of Edina, MN passed away peacefully on May 19, 2020 at the age of 84. Adored by his wife, Ann, of 60 years, he was a genuine gentleman, principled and loyal, who lived his values unapologetically. Family was everything to Rick, and his love was felt and cherished by his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by Nick and Annie Cronin (Luke, Grace, Kevin and [Shelby]); Sheila Cronin (Tom and Joe Bornfleth); Jim and Sarah Cronin (Zac); Matt Cronin and Maureen Sullivan (Carlton, Peter & Amanda Cronin, Killian, Bennett, Gavin and Murphy Brackey); Bridget and Ralph Lionetti (Cecelia); Molly and David Clark (Patrick, Katherine, and Georgia). Rick is also survived by sisters MaryJo Roberts and Molly Cronin and brothers Mike, John and Tom. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton, Sr. and Dorothy and sister Ann Mosey. Rick set an example for how to live a full life by keeping things simple - faith, family, friends, community and dedication to his work. After graduating from the College of Saint Thomas in 1957, he began his career with Allison Williams Company, then PaineWebber in their municipal bond departments. In 1974, Rick founded Cronin & Company, a firm that specialized in municipal bonds, from which he retired in 2007. Rick's work ethic was second to none. His accomplishments were many, but it was his impact on others that will most be remembered. He did not relish in the spotlight, but rather found fulfillment in watching others shine. He attributed his success to hiring the brightest, then teaching and trusting them to do their best. His commitment to community and education was quiet but mighty. Many have felt his generosity without knowing the source. He did not sweat the small stuff, and everyone who knows Rick can tell a hilarious story that unless witnessed, would not be believed. A celebration of his wonderful life will be held at a future date. Please send memorials to Annunciation Church and School or DeLaSalle High School. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
