Rodie, Fred and Dorothy It is with sadness, the Fred Rodie family announces the passing of Fred and Dorothy Rodie. On Wednesday January 15, 2020 Fred Anthony Rodie, passed away at the age of 86. Fred's wife of 67 years, Dorothy Marcella Rodie passed away on February 13, 2020 at the age of 85. Fred was born on June 13, 1933, in Cumberland, Wisconsin to Clara Rodie. Dorothy was born on April 26, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joseph and Victoria Kocon. Fred and Dorothy met at Edison High School in Northeast Minneapolis; they were high school sweethearts. They married on August 16, 1952. They were lifelong best friends and truly in love. Their personalities meshed perfectly. They loved each other deeply and had a wonderful marriage. Fred and Dorothy raised three daughters, Deborah, Cynthia and Diane and one son, John. Fred and Dorothy both attended Edison High School in Northeast Minneapolis and later the University of Minnesota. Fred worked at World Tool and Engineering (later World Aerospace) in North Minneapolis for over 30 years, starting as a machinist and working his way to an engineer and then upper management position. Dorothy worked as a teacher in the Minneapolis area and later dedicated much of her life to the church. Fred and Dorothy moved to Washington State in 1984, where he founded and ran a successful business in Shelton, Washington. All the while Dorothy was working with Fred and dedicating herself to helping others. Fred was known for his kind and gentle spirit and unique sense of humor. Dorothy was compassionate and caring, truly thinking of others first. Fred and Dorothy were preceded in death by their parents, her siblings Mary, Emelia, John, Polly, Jenny and Helen, daughter Deborah Spring and great-grandson Chandler Selby. They are survived by Dorothy's siblings: sister Annie Stokowski, brothers Frank Kocon and Ray Kocon (DeAnne); children: Cynthia Tuffs (Richard), Diane Selby (Mark), John Rodie (Rachel), Eric Spring (son-in-law); grandchildren: Jeremy Spring (Kelly), Stephanie Wacker (Michael), Rebecca Spring, Rachel Heinrich (Jason), Michael Tuffs, Andrea Schaap (Joshua), Matthew Selby (Amy Jo); and twenty great- grandchildren.
