Barbara Jean Thraen

Thraen, Barbara Jean age 80 of St. Louis Park passed away peacefully at home on 11/19/19, surrounded by family. Preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life Aloysius. Parents, Irvin and Phyllis Wenkel, brother Larry. Survived by her children; Darren (Jean) Thraen, Andrea (Dan) Gionet, and Jody Thraen; grandchildren, Andrew (Nicole), Maggie and Lucy Thraen, Zach and Nick Gionet; siblings, Rita (John) Jette and John (Rosalee) Wenkel; and many other nieces and nephews. Barbara retired from AMS in 1989 and continued to remain very active in her church community. She was a devout Catholic and a dedicated volunteer at Good Shepherd Church: where she worked many years as a CCD Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, served school hot lunches, setting up for funerals. Twice she traveled to Guatemala building homes with the GodChild Project. She was an avid Twin's fan, golfer and bowler. She loved to read, travel and was a diehard UpWords player. Barbara's grandchildren were the light of her life. Special thanks to her second family, the Good Shephard Church community. Mass of Christian Burial this Thursday November 21, 11 AM with visitation starting at 10 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 145 Jersey Ave. So., Golden Valley. Private interment at Ft. Snelling.
