Sweder, Elizabeth Eriksson Age 83, passed away Sept. 8 in Fergus Falls, MN after a brief illness. She married Don Sweder in Minneapolis in 1956. As a homemaker in Grand Rapids, MI., Minneapolis and Edina, MN., she helped raise two daughters while also enjoying sewing, interior design, gardening and painting. At 57, she earned a BFA degree in ceramics and sculpture from the U of M in Minneapolis. Liz and Don designed and built a retirement home on a lake near Fergus Falls in 1999. She became active in the Fergus Falls Writers Group and self-published a memoir entitled The Red Cottage. Liz is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Don; daughters Meg (Wayne) and Betsy (Ron); seven grandchildren; four brothers and one sister and many nieces and nephews. Two memorial services celebrating her life will be held: Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 am at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka, MN 55345; and Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 pm at the Broen Home Light and Life Auditorium, 418 East Alcott Ave, Fergus Falls.
