Wesley William Kettelkamp

Kettelkamp, Wesley William February 25, 1936 July 21, 2019 Wesley William Kettelkamp, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2019 in hospice care. Wes was born on February 25, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN and was the only child of Lester and Ruby Kettelkamp. Wes served in the National Guard for 6 years and also became a certified watchmaker. Together with his wife Gracia (nee Cross) they owned and managed a watch repair shop until Wes retired at the age of 74. Wes was a member of the Bloomington, MN Fire Department, serving as an active fire fighter for 20 years, a fire prevention educator for 13 years, and also as Chaplain for 40 years. Wes was a longtime member of Hillside Church, serving in various teaching, athletic, building maintenance, and ministry capacities. Wes enjoyed bike riding, skiing, pheasant hunting, and miniature train sets, but most of all supporting his children and grandchildren in school and sporting events, and vacationing with family. Above all, Wes was a man of integrity and cherished a deep faith in Jesus Christ. In 2003 Wes was diagnosed with cancer, which he fought courageously and without complaint for over 16 years. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family sharing memories, laughing, crying, and praising God. Wes is survived by his wife Gracia of 62 years, sons Steve (Linda), and Dan (Kelly), daughter Lynn Brooks (Tom); grandchildren Tyler Kettelkamp (Ashley), Brent Kettelkamp (Melissa), Derek Brooks, Danelle Smith (Case), Jenna Kettelkamp, and Sadie Kettelkamp; great-grandchildren Jack, Adelyn, Briggs, Ella, Cooper, and Lily; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 9:45am to 10:45am at Hillside Church, 4300 W. 98th St., Bloomington, MN, with funeral and reception to follow.
