Gainsley, James "Jim" David Age 84, of St. Louis Park, passed away April 17, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nat and Anita Gainsley and long-time business partner, Dr. David Carlson. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Renee Gainsley and daughter, Joan Gainsley; also, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Harriet & Peter Glick and their sons, Jon and Adam. Jim graduated from Minneapolis Southwest High School, University of Minnesota, and The Gemological Institute of America. A true entrepreneur, Jim owned and developed several businesses; the most long- standing being Renco Corporation, started in 1975, which designs and manufactures electronics for agriculture with a presence in over 120 countries. Jim was a life-long learner. A pioneer in technology, he enjoyed teaching himself the process of building his own computers. His passions included travel, classical music, animals, handball, scuba diving, table tennis, and his family. He served his community as the longest standing member of the St. Louis Park Board of Zoning Appeals. He was very proud of his involvement with Temple Israel, holding leadership positions as Treasurer, Chairman of Usher Corps, Chairman of Camp Teko Committee, Board Member for Temple Israel Memorial Park, Archiving and Men's Club. He was a member of the Minneapolis Shriners. Funeral service 11:00 am, SUNDAY, April 21, 2019, at Temple Israel, 2323 Fremont Ave. So., Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to Temple Israel or Gainsley Fund at JFCS-Minneapolis. A gathering of family & friends will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 pm, at Temple Israel.
