Kane, Kenneth W., Sr. "Ken" Age 96, of Bloomington, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019. He was born at home on January 11, 1923 in Meriden, Kansas to Edward George Kane and Grace Florence (West) Kane. He is survived by son Ken (Jeanette) Kane, Jr. and daughter Kandice (George) Dowden. He leaves behind grandchildren Angela (Zach) Shannon and Adam (Kira) Kane; Ryan (Becky) Dowden, Sarah Dowden & Troy Dowden. Also, great- grandchildren, Wyatt Kane, Dillon Shannon, Kinley Kane, Abbey Shannon and Zoey Dowden. He graduated from Meriden High School in 1941 and went on to further his education at Midland Radio & TV, majoring in Electronics. He entered the Army in January of 1943 and was assigned to the 27th Division Signal Company. He would see action on Saipan and Okinawa. He was a very proud American War Veteran. Upon completing his military enlistment, he spent 34 years working for Wisconsin Central, North Central and Republic Airlines. He was very proud to be a Mason and Shriner since 1959. He was Worshipful Master of Bloomington Lodge in 1971. He was also a Bloomington B.A.J. (Born-Again Jocks). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, volleyball and the Minnesota Vikings. He was an extremely nice, honest and much-loved man and he was part of the Greatest Generation. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Ruth Kane and son, Martin Kane. The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Wealshire of Bloomington and the Park Nicollet Hospice Unit for their kindness and care for Dad in his last year. A memorial service will be held at Richfield United Methodist Church on Friday, February 22, beginning at 10:00 AM (visitation) and 10:30 AM (Masonic Ceremony), followed by his actual service at 11:00 AM and luncheon at noon. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers any memorials go to Richfield United Methodist Church (RUMC) Memorial Fund in Dad's name at 5835 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419.
