Melom, Marvin Leo "Marv" age 88, born on December 29, 1930 in McClusky, North Dakota, went home to Jesus on January 16, 2019. In 1951 he joined the United States Air Force, and while stationed in Delaware, met his first wife, Marjorie (nee Midgett). His first daughter, Debra, was born there. Marvin left the Air Force and moved to Minnesota in 1956. In October of 1957, Marjorie passed away. When Marvin was visiting a church in Minnesota in late 1957, another Marjorie (nee Krueger) saw him and said to her mother, "You can get me that for Christmas." They were married on May 10, 1958 and had two daughters, Mary Jane and Ruth. Marvin was a mechanical wizard. When he was in eighth grade, he got tired of riding the horse to school and asked his dad if he could fix up the broken truck in the field. His dad laughed and said "sure." One week later, Marv was driving it to school! The Lord blessed him with an ability to repair almost anything mechanical. Throughout his life he would repair whatever his neighbors brought to him. As a machinist, if he didn't like a part, he would make a new one while on break at work. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Millard and Caroline Melom; brothers Reuben and Loren; sisters-in-law Ethel, Ellen and Irene; brothers-in-law Reuben, Stan, Clyde, Alvin, Leon and Eddie; and son-in-law Robert Folks. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughters Debra Folks, Mary Jane Gust (Brian), Ruth Abernathy (Mark), sisters Donna, Doris, Luella, Sharon, Twilla and Loretta, grandchildren Rebecca, Malissa, Carrie, Cassandra, Joshua, Tara, Jake, Dane, Emma Rae and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Park Harbor Church, 1615 Texas Avenue South, St. Louis Park, MN, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m., and a luncheon following.
