Abele, Marie Alena A loving wife, mother and passionate educator. Born September 25, 1944 in Haaparjavi, Finland; died peacefully on December 25, 2018 after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by husband, Harris Dean Abele; son, Mikel Dean Abele; father, Reino Isoherranen; mother, Vieno Elisabet Nellis (Karjalahti). She is survived by her son, David Abele of Minneapolis. Marie immigrated from Finland when she was 8 years old and grew up in Grand Rapids, MN. She graduated college from Bemidji State University with graduate studies at St. Mary's. Marie LOVED teaching and was with the Richfield School District #280 for 50 years. She was known for her ongoing representation of Finland, love and pride for all things Finnish and an unmatched level of "Sisu." She loved knitting, playing cards, gardening and volunteering. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 31st at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 5005 Northwest Blvd., Plymouth with visitation beginning at 10:00.
