Dykins, Charles Albert Age 95 of Bloomington passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2018 surrounded by his four daughters. He is now happily reunited with the love of his life Elaire, his wife of 62 years. Charles had fond memories of being raised on a wheat and cattle farm with his loving family in Sentinel Butte, ND, where he and his siblings did daily chores and rode horses to a one-room school house, then on to high school in Beach. He graduated from the U of WY and moved to MN to pursue Architecture. He married Elaire Janett in 1953 & designed their mid-century modern family home in Bloomington where they raised four daughters and lived for 60 years. He started his own Architectural firm designing banks throughout the Midwest. In retirement he shifted his artistic outlet to creating beautiful woodcarvings and bronze sculptures mainly depicting the Wild West. His family was always the most important part of his life and his greatest source of joy. As a couple they loved to dance, play pool, cards, and socialize with their friends and family in MN and AZ. He kept his young daughters engaged in nature and the great outdoors throughout the seasons as they skied, tobogganed, played catch, biked, and hiked. He mentored his son-in-laws in the fine art of grilling, landscaping and home repair. He cheered on their grandchildren at countless sporting events and activities. He was delighted to be in the presence of his great grandchildren. Charles was a wonderful role model and a loving and generous family man. He was humble, lived with integrity, had a quiet confidence and a strong work ethic. We are forever grateful for having him in our lives. His unwavering love and support will be greatly missed by his family; 4 daughters: Lee (John) Thomas, Sue (Scott) Augustine, Sandy (Warren) Loken, Judy (Steve) Klopp; 10 grandchildren: Ian (Allison) and Elliot Thomas, Ryan (Kamie), Brent (Molly) and Garrett Augustine, Marissa (Liam) Girard and Chase Loken, Dylan, Tyler and Ryder Klopp; 8 great-grandchildren: Reese, Paige, Maddie, Carter and Calvin Augustine, Clara and Isla Thomas and Teagan Girard; sister: Joyce (John); sister in law: Elaine Janett and brother in law: Ray Janett. In his last years when asked how he was doing, he would reply, "Pretty good for a young fella." The family is having a private celebration to honor this 'young fella' and his long and meaningful life. Memorials to Parkinson's Foundation or donor's choice.
