Briscoe, Cindy age 64, passed away on May 17, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family who she loved dearly. She fought a gritty, courageous fight against pancreatic cancer for nearly five years refusing to give up to the tough odds that you face with this disease. Cindy was a long-time middle school teacher at Rosemount Middle School. She taught and coached gymnastics in Jackson, Minnesota before that where her teams won state championships. Cindy was able to see the best in each student. She had high standards, took an interest in every student and always had time to listen and provide free advice to students long after the school day had ended. Many students have gone on to become teachers and credit her with empowering them to follow their dreams. Cindy graduated from Redwood Falls High School and went on to earn both BA and MA degrees in education from St. Cloud State University. She taught middle school students for 37 years. Cindy was preceded in death by her father Harvey Johnson. Cindy is survived by loving family members including her husband Chuck Briscoe; son, Matt Briscoe and daughter-in-law Lindsey Briscoe; daughter, Kalen Briscoe; son Colin Briscoe; daughter Lauren Briscoe and future son in law Erich Dovenmuehler, brothers Chad (Krista) Johnson, Derrick (Alyssa) Johnson, Stacey, and Sherry as well as many nieces and nephews. Cindy is survived by her two granddaughters Luna Lee and Piper Briscoe who she adored. Cindy never let cancer define who she was and throughout her battle continued to provide hope for others who were facing similar challenges. Cindy exceeded the definition of strength, compassion, and kindness. A Memorial Service will be held at Rosemount High School on Saturday, May 26, 2018 beginning at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at White Funeral Home, 14560 Pennock Ave., Apple Valley (952-432-2001), on Thursday, May 24 from 4-8 p.m. There will also be a Visitation at Rosemount High School on Saturday, May 26 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
