Isbin, Herbert S. age 98 of St. Louis Park passed away May 12th, 2018. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Katherine Isbin, son, Neil, parents, Isadore and Rose, sisters, Maxine and Florence. Survived by son, Ira Isbin (Amie Noun); daughters, Rena Isbin and Sharon Isbin (Elizabeth Schulze). He received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Washington, graduate studies, University of Minnesota, PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1947. Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota 1950-1983. Appointed by President Eisenhower to the Atomic Energy Commission; member of Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards. He wrote one of the most internationally respected and widely used textbooks, Introductory Nuclear Reactor Theory, in addition to more than 75 professional publications. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jennifer Krzmarzick, Boynton Health Service-U of M, Kristine Pederson his nurse with Lifesprk and all the home health aides, Fairview Hospice, Dr. Victor Sandler, Brittany and Brenton music therapist. Funeral service 12 Noon TUESDAY May 15th at BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5225 Barry St. West, St. Louis Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's favorite charity.
