Flakne, Marian Sweet classy lady, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on April 15, 2018 at the age of 91. Born Marian Joyce Johnson 11-5-26, she was raised in Minneapolis and attended Washburn High School and Gustavus Adolphus College. Marian was married 45 years to her high school sweetheart Robert Flakne, after his return from service in WWII. They raised their four children in St. Paul and later had homes in Forest Lake, Bloomington and Naples, FL. Marian was an always loving and supportive daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, mother-inlaw, grandma and friend. She was a gifted seamstress, hostess and bridge player. She earned her real estate licenses in both MN and FL and was a Mayo Clinic trained devoted home dialysis nurse for her husband. Marian brought joy into every room she entered. She was known for her beautiful smile, easy laugh, persistent good mood, love of family and always saying yes to anything that sounded even remotely fun. She will be deeply missed. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Sigrid, loving husband Robert, sister Jean (Wanous), and special gentleman friend, Harry Gustafson. She is survived by sister Donna (Hoiland); children; Karen (Jerry) Parks, Gregory (Patti) Flakne, Susan (Charlie) Field and David (Linda) Flakne; grandchildren Kelly (Josh), Kristi (Matt), Katie (Erik), Abby, Robert (Jenna), Cameron (Kate), Kyle (Lauren), Kayla, Robert (Thea), Chad and Scott; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A service will be held on Friday, May 4th, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Washburn McReavy Edina Chapel, 5000 West 50th St, Edina, MN 55436. Visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the wonderful, loving caregivers in Marian's life: Victoria Esler, the staff at Beehive Homes of Excelsior and St Croix Hospice.
