Newhall, Maren Elizabeth (Feddersen) Age 89, died March 29th. Born in Racine, Wisc., in 1928, Marney moved to Minneapolis at a young age where her father took a position as a Lutheran minister. Her mother died when Marney was just 12 years old and her father died several years later while she was studying at the University of Minnesota. Marney earned a degree in Home Economics at the U of M and that is where she met the love of her life, Bill. After getting married, they made several moves around the Midwest until finally settling in Pelican Rapids in 1959, where Bill took a job in management at West Central Turkeys. Bill and Marney spent more than 50 happy years living in Pelican Rapids as active members of Trinity Lutheran Church and many organizations in town. They lived on a small farm east of town and raised three children. She loved traveling, knitting, cooking, and baking, and she touched many lives with her generosity over the years. Marney loved living in the country and spending time at the family cabin on Lake Lida. Several years ago they moved to the Twin Cities to be near their children. Marney was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann, and will be greatly missed by her survivors, which include: husband Bill; son Mark and wife Mary Wetschka; son Lee and wife Kari; son-in-law Rick Schleuss; grandchildren Tyler, Jake, Allie and David Newhall; Ben Schleuss and Amanda Thomson; great-grandchildren Hutton, Willa, Elowyn, Grady, Boden and Calum Newhall; Maren Schleuss, and Julia Thomsen; sister Katherine Bauch, niece Vanessa Bauch. Marney will be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
