Paulsen, Shirley Ann 96 years of age, was born on February 15, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minne-sota and passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Edina on March 29, 2018. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Gerald "Jerry" A. Paulsen, parents Anna (Anderson) and Otto Lund and brother, Kenneth W. Lund. Shortly after Shirley graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1940, she proudly contributed to the war effort by working at the Hitchcock Foundry while Jerry was serving in the Army infantry in Europe. They had met while roller-skating, one of their favorite activities, and they were members of Minnehaha Lutheran Church where they both sang in the choir. After Jerry's return from the war, it was in that church that they were married on June 15, 1946. In her younger years, Shirley was involved in bowling leagues and enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and playing the piano and organ. As her husband's grocery business, Jerry's Foods, grew and expanded, she greatly enjoyed the social, entertainment, and travel aspects associated with the company. Shirley was a resident of Edina for over 65 years. She enjoyed spending summers at their hobby farm in Annandale, Minnesota, and winters at their home on Sanibel Island, Florida. Wherever the location, she was delighted to host and entertain family and friends. Her greatest source of pride and of joy was her family. She was a tremendously devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by daughters, Charlotte (Robert) Shadduck of Annandale, Minnesota, LuAnn (Brian) Cornell of Minne-tonka, Minnesota, Cheryl (Peter) Sullivan of Edina, Minnesota; grandchildren Melissa (Jonathan) Schaefer, Kristin (Marc) Fahey, Amy (Jim) Miller, Adam (Aubrey) Cornell, Sarah (Joel) Ihrie, Allison (Ted) Bickel, Brett (Amanda) Cornell, Kelly Sullivan, Monica (Max) Hintz, Michael Sullivan; 15 great-grandchildren; nephews, Kenneth (Diane) Lund, Jerry Brunskill and niece, Victoria Brunskill. The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation for her special caregiver and companion, Shelley Bergman. Memorials are preferred to Mount Olivet Lutheran Church or the charity of donor's choice.
