Simon, Laurie Rose 68, of Maplewood, Minn. passed away March 5, 2018, in Palm Springs, Calif. She was born March 15, 1949, to Bernard and Lillie Simon (Levine) in Troy, N.Y. Laurie married Carol Ann Hohenstein on October 26, 2013, in St. Paul, Minn. She was a social worker for over 30 years and was active in the Democratic Party as well as a member of the A.F.S.C.M.E. She was a founding member of the Beth Jacob Synagogue in Mendota Heights, Minn. She generously contributed to many charities close to her heart. She is survived by her wife, Carol Ann Hohenstein; her brother, David Simon; as well as numerous family members, nieces, nephews, and friends. Graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Sons of Jacob Cemetery, 770 Parkway Drive, St. Paul, Minn. with a Celebration of Life to follow at Beth Jacob Synagogue. Laurie would be very happy if you would wear something purple. Please join Carol at her home between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th of March to sit Shiva. The family suggests donations be made to The National Kidney Foundation, The Second Harvest Food Bank, or The Open Arms of Minnesota. Hodroff-Epstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
