Jones, Bert Age 84, long time resident of Edina and The Summit Place in Eden Prairie. Beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and friend passed away after a brief illness surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 11. Bert was born on June 8, 1933. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1951 and until his death, continued to treasure the monthly luncheons at Bunny's Restaurant with his high school buddies. On July 26, 1952, Bert married the love of his life, the former Patricia Borchart. They were inseparable until her death in 2011. Bert is survived by 3 children: Robert (Kay) Jones, Nancy (Jeffrey) Selleck and David Jones. 7 grandchildren: Alli Selleck Moquist, Krissy Selleck Schneider, Katey Jones Southwell, Bo Selleck, Ben Jones, Matthew Jones and Willson Jones. 2 great-grand children: Charlie and CC Schneider. Bert's love of people and his motivation to do good in the world, gave him the opportunity to spend many years in leadership roles with the St. Louis Park Planning Commission, the Minnesota Jaycees and The Sales and Marketing Executives of Minneapolis. Bert was a born salesman. He was one of the original team members at Wilson Learning Corporation. As Vice President of Sales, he enjoyed selling, managing and often facilitating the leadership and training solutions seminars in Minneapolis and throughout the world. Bert was an avid golfer his entire life. Working at the Minikahda Club as a young boy to being a longtime member at Hazeltine National, then in his later years at Braemar Golf Course in Edina. He took great pride in his friendship with his golf buddies "The Sandbaggers". During his nearly 7 years at the Summit Place, he made many great friends, enjoyed gardening, baking and giving away cookies, calling bingo and being a volunteer. Many thanks to his special caregivers at the Summit Place. A private family memorial service will take place in the spring.
