Koenig, Pauline Louise Passed away on February 13, 2018. She was a beautiful, caring, wonderful person who lived a full and active life for 96 years, born in Chetek, WI to Alma and Arndt Olson, the oldest of four children. Her sisters, Beverly and Gladys and her brother, Philip preceded her in death. After graduation from Chetek High School, she received a B.S. degree from the UW-River Falls in 1943. She taught mathematics in several Wisconsin high schools before migrating to California where she continued her teaching career, teaching in the San Francisco Unified School District and also at the University of San Francisco. Pauline did graduate study at San Francisco State, the University of San Francisco, the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, Duke University, and the University of Minnesota. In 1962, she married Robert August Koenig who became a Presbyterian minister. The two traveled the world together. She also loved music and sang in the San Francisco "Sola Cantorum" and the Susquehanna Valley Chorale in PA. She was often a church soloist. After teaching in St. Paul, she joined the math department at the UW-Eau Claire which she said was the "best job that she ever had." She was deeply respected and loved by her students. In 1982, she received the Mathematics Education Citation from the Wisconsin Mathematics Council for 25 years of distinguished service. She was also a member of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International. Pauline was devoted to her husband, who survives her, and served as a ruling elder in two Presbyerian congregations. Having no children, her cats received more than their share of her love. Funeral Service Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, all at First Prebyterian Church, 535 20th Ave North, South Saint Paul, MN.
