Davenport, Charles William Age 89, of Bloomington, MN passed away on Jan. 19, 2018 surrounded by family. Charlie was born on July 22, 1928 in Fargo, ND to Ward and Irene Davenport. Charlie served as a Sergeant in the Army in Korea from 1951-1953 where he was awarded 3 Bronze Stars for his service. Upon his return, he graduated from North Dakota State University where he met his first wife Virginia Borderud who he married in 1954. Charlie and Virginia had 4 daughters. Becky, Jane, Lynn and Sarah who they raised in Bloomington. After the loss of Virginia in 1973. Charlie met Beverly Wielenga who he married in 1977. They were married 41 years. Charlie graduated from North Dakota State with a degree in business. Charlie was Vice President of Bartley Sales who he was with for 25 years before he began his own company, Service Unlimited, which he operated for 31 years. He was 81 when he retired as he loved to keep busy and the interaction with people. Charlie was also the President of the Minneapolis Builders Exchange in 1984. Charlie enjoyed golfing with his friends and family at Dwan Golf Course, spending time at the Cottage on Pelican Lake, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities as well as traveling with Bev. He also had a love for music, and during his schooling days he traveled to different towns in North Dakota playing the alto sax. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Irene Davenport; his first wife, Virginia; and 4 brothers, Jack, Robert, Ward ('Bud') (Blanche) Jr., and Jimmy. He is survived by wife, Beverly Davenport; 4 daughters, Becky (Rich) Parker, Jane Berra, Lynn (Rod) Wimberly, and Sarah (Mike) Clark; grandchildren, Heather, Cory, Rodney, Chris, McKenna, Quinn, Reese and Devan; and great-grandchildren, Kieran, Finley, Keyana, Kaylee and Peyton. Also survived by brother-in-law, James (Lori) Wielenga, sister-in-law, Lorene Davenport; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the Drs and Nurses in the ICU and Stroke Center at Fairview Southdale Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care Charlie received.
