Julia Holter and the Spektral Quartet

7:30 p.m. • Amsterdam Bar & Hall • 18-plus • $15

Holter, a critically acclaimed art-pop composer out of Los Angeles, will join forces with Chicago's Spektral Quartet in St. Paul. With three albums' worth of ambient, classically influenced electronic music under her belt, Holter is a smart choice to pair with the groundbreaking Spektral Quartet, whose work includes progressive composites such as a piece informed by the delivery styles of stand-up comedy greats. SQ's genre-bending musicians marry Holter's vocals with classical opuses in "Behind the Wallpaper," the 10-song exploration of gender fluidity they'll perform tonight. Plus, expect cuts from Holter's solo discography and a "sample pack" of Spektral Quartet's work. Alex Nelson
