Pitch-count limits

The following is in effect for Minnesota high school varsity baseball games this season:

• One to 30 pitches: zero days of rest.

• 31 to 50 pitches: one day of rest.

• 51 to 75 pitches: two days of rest.

• 76 to 105 pitches: three days of rest.

Maxing out: Once pitchers reach the limit, they are allowed to finish pitching to that batter. The daily maximum is 105 pitches; the total increases to 115 for the playoffs.

Rest requirements: Pitchers are required to get a day of rest if they pitch two consecutive days. Days of rest are measured in calendar days, and not 24-hour periods.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
