Last month, I wrote about Amy Lussier's frustration with state-paid van service that consistently failed to transport her 4-year-old son from day care to an autism treatment program. I reported that drivers had failed to get Joey to the treatment center on time on 18 of the 23 days he had needed the service. Lussier's decision to go public with her story has sparked meetings and calls from a number of movers-and-shakers who share her concern about the functioning of Minnesota Non-Emergency Transportation, the program to provide van service for Medical Assistance recipients.

More significantly, the frantic phone calls from confused drivers and concerned school aides have stopped. To Mom's great relief, Joey's transportation has gone without a hitch since the story was published, Lussier reports.
