A car slid on an icy southern Minnesota road Wednesday morning and hit an oncoming semitrailer truck in a collision that killed the driver of the smaller vehicle, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 8:50 a.m. on County Road 16 in the southern part of Brown County, according to the State Patrol.
Killed was Joan L. Eischen, 57, of Comfrey, Minn., the patrol added. The truck’s driver, Michael J. Lux, 60, of Sleepy Eye, Minn., was uninjured.
Eischen’s car was heading north on County Road 16, when it “slid sideways into the oncoming lane” and was struck by the southbound truck, the patrol said in a statement.
