Russell T. Davies has been making TV more gay-friendly for years, first with "Queer as Folk" and most recently with Logo's "Cucumber and Banana." The producer shared his thoughts on other series with prominent gay characters.

"I think 'Looking' is wonderful. I think the showrunner on that, Andrew Haigh, is a genius. He also made a film called 'Weekend' that I urge you to go and watch. It's brilliant. I love that show. And I love those two in 'Modern Family.' They are my favorite gay couple in the world. I simply adore [the character] Cam in that."
