David Enyeart of Minneapolis writes:

I recently tore through "The Wars of the Roses." I'm currently reading "The Plantagenets," and I'll move on to "Magna Carta" soon. All are by British historian Dan Jones. Jones paints with a big brush. His books are all about lords with swords, with barely a commoner to be seen. You don't read these books for nuance; you read them to be carried along by the grand sweep of history. There's more ambition, pageantry, greed, betrayal and pure savagery in one chapter of his books than in a whole season of "Game of Thrones."

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
