Banfi might be best known for its signature Brunello di Montalcino, but the winery produces some seriously swell lower-priced wines (as in $13) called Centine. The red boasts robust fruit with a sweetish plummy edge (perhaps geared for American palates), nice grip and a tasty finish. The white offers up a huge citrus/floral nose; a juicy, tangy array of fruit and a fresh finish. Try the rosso with pizza or pasta, the bianco with salads, light cheeses or fried fish. Both are available at Excelsior Vintage, France 44, Harbor Wine & Spirits, Black Diamond, Red Lion and South Lyndale.
