Village Wok, a 41-year dining institution in Minneapolis' Stadium Village area (and favorite late-night Chinese food haunt) is closing. The restaurant's last day is Aug. 21.

The news was posted on the restaurant's Facebook page. The message says:

"To our valued customers: We are saddened to inform you that Village Wok will be closing [its] door for business after 40 great years. ... We thank you not only for your support, loyalty and kindness over the years. We'll miss the friends we've made. Thank you for being wonderful customers!"

Two neighboring draws are also closing. Eight-year-old Bun Mi announced that it's serving its last sandwich on Aug. 26. Until then, the restaurant will limit its hours to weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

And Espresso Expose, one of the city's oldest coffeehouses, will end its 25-year run on Sept. 2.

The restaurants' Washington Avenue addresses are the site of a proposed 26-story apartment tower.
