Rich humor Why did the studio pull up the armored truck to increase the salaries for the cast of "Modern Family" (8 and 8:30 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5)? Because it's quite simply one of the best sitcoms in TV history. These two repeats are the strongest evidence. The first features a wicked guest appearance by Ellen Barkin and the second finds Julie Bowen flustered as she campaigns for a spot on the city council. Well worth the big bucks.

Southfork suds "Dallas" (8 p.m., TNT) ends its very successful 10-episode run with an episode in which the family rallies behind one of their own when he faces a medical crisis. I'm no doctor, but I'm sure the ailment can be cured with a quick trip to the showers.

Making new friends Bad news: The new fall season is shaping up to be a dismal one. The exception: "Go On" (10:04 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11), which gets a commercial-free sneak peek following Olympics coverage. A kinder, gentler Matthew Perry stars as a sports-radio host who's reluctant to seek therapy after the death of his wife. Not the funniest of premises, but Perry and his strong cast make the best of it.
