Maryland offensive tackle could visit

The Vikings are working to arrange a pre-draft visit with Maryland offensive tackle Bruce Campbell, according to Viking Update.

If arrangements can be made, Campbell would be expected to visit on April 6-7 when the Vikings will bring in all of the draft prospects that they want to get one more look at before the selection process begins on April 22. Rick Spielman, the Vikings vice president of player personnel, likes to have all 30 or so players in at the same time as opposed to scheduling individual visits.

Campbell made a name for himself at the NFL Scouting Combine in February when he showed up in top physical condition. He was measured at 6-6 1/2 and weighed 314 pounds. There has been plenty of different opinions on what type of player Campbell will be at the next level.

Viking Update also reported that Vanderbilt safety Myron Lewis is scheduled to visit Winter Park. Lewis is projected to be taken in the middle rounds.

The problem with putting any stock in these visits is that they sometimes are scheduled as a smoke screen in order to make other teams think the Vikings are interested in a player when they have no intention of selecting him. There are other situations when the Vikings simply want more answers about a kid and need to talk to him again.
