Just wanted to mention a few brief items this afternoon.

Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman said last week that he and his staff will attend a number of pro days at colleges across the country the next two weeks. Spielman was one of many NFL executies who were at Florida's Pro Day today, according to FoxSports.com.

That's not surprising. Given the amount of talent at Florida, it would be hard to imagine any team not showing up to watch the workouts.

-- I know I said yesterday that we are taking a break from LaDainian Tomlinson updates, but here's one small one. Tomlinson said during a teleconference Tuesday that he signed with the Jets over the Vikings because of playing time and his familiarity with the offensive system. He said on “The Dan Patrick Show” today that money was not a factor.

“I could have taken more money to go to Minnesota,” Tomlinson said.

A league source told us the contract offers were pretty similar. But I guess I'm not surprised that the Vikings were willing to offer more. Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has shown he's willing to spend money if the team believes a player will help them.

-- Finally, former Vikings cornerback Karl Paymah signed a one-year contract with San Francisco. The Vikings did not tender Paymah, who was a restricted free agent. Paymah signed with the Vikings last offseason primarily to help on special teams, but he did not play in the final six games.
