ESPN's Adam Schefter reported in a tweet that the Vikings have given restricted free agent defensive end Ray Edwards the first-round tender.
UPDATE: A source has confirmed Schefter's tweet.
The tender is worth $2,521,000 and gives the Vikings the right of first refusal if Edwards signs with another team. The Vikings would get a first-round draft pick as compensation in that scenario.
The first-round tender makes sense since Edwards is coming off a career season. He finished second in the team in sacks, quarterback hurries and tackles for loss.
