Judd Zulgad has been on the NFL beat since the 2003 season, when he began a (gasp) two-year stint covering the Green Bay Packers for the Star Tribune. Zulgad has covered the Vikings since 2005 and is as shocked as anyone that he is again following the daily exploits of Brett Favre.

Chip Scoggins knew his second season covering the Vikings would be eventful when he saw the news helicopter tracking Brett Favre to Winter Park and a guy dressed in a full parrot costume standing outside.

Loadholt listed as questionable

Vikings rookie right tackle Phil Loadholt is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at St. Louis because of an ankle injury.

Loadholt did not practice today, instead staying inside the Vikings' Winter Park facility so he could receive treatment. Loadholt, who also was bothered by an ankle injury in the preseason, played on Monday night against the Packers and then practiced in full on Wednesday. However, he landed on the injury report Thursday after being limited.

"He's doing all right," coach Brad Childress said after practice. "[We] kept him in to treat him so we'll just see what kind of progress he can make here."

If Loadholt can't play, the Vikings could start either Artis Hicks or Ryan Cook at right tackle. Cook was the primary starter last season but struggled at times and was benched in favor of Hicks at one point. Hicks appears to be the Vikings' top backup at guard and tackle so it wouldn't be surprising to see him get the call.

"Ryan can play center, guard and tackle and Artis can play guard and tackle, so we kind of rep both of them," Childress said. "Kind of split that around. So we'll see."

Loadholt isn't the only offensive linemen on the Vikings' injury report. Pro Bowl left guard Steve Hutchinson was bothered by a back injury for  a second consecutive week, sitting out Wednesday and then being limited on Thursday and today. Hutchinson, though, is listed as probable for Sunday's game. Childress said he's not that concerned about Hutchinson's back issue but added, "Backs are funny things, just by nature."

Also listed as probable are quarterback Brett Favre (foot, ankle, knee); defensive end Ray Edwards (hamstring); and cornerback Cedric Griffin (hand). Edwards and Griffin took part in today's entire practice. Favre was limited but that means little and it would not be surprising if he was limited in practice for the remainder of the season.

Wide receiver Darius Reynaud, who missed last Monday's game because of a hamstring injury and has missed practice this week while dealing with a personal issue, is listed as out. Linebacker Erin Henderson (calf) is questionable but likely won't play.

Favre, by the way, is the FedEx Air NFL player of the week after throwing for three touchdowns last Monday against the Packers. He beat out Jacksonville's David Garrard and Indianapolis' Peyton Manning.

As for the Rams, quarterback Marc Bulger was limited in practice for a third consecutive day because of a right shoulder injury and is listed as questionable. It's expected that Kyle Boller will start for a second consecutive week.

The Rams also have three wide receivers on the report. Donnie Avery (hamstring) and Keenan Burton (hamstring) are questionable and Ruvell Martin (hamstring) is doubtful. Tackle Jason Smith (knee) also is questionable. In the secondary, safety James Butler (knee) is out, safety Anthony Smith (Achilles') is doubtful and cornerback Ron Bartell (thigh) and safety Craig Dahl (concussion) are probable.
