Report: Vikings expected to offer defensive coordinator position to Alan Williams

The Vikings' search for a new defensive coordinator could be nearing its end. According to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network, Leslie Frazier is expected to offer Alan Williams that position, a post that officially came open late last week when Fred Pagac was dismissed.
Williams has spent the last 10 seasons as the defensive backs coach in Indianapolis. Frazier, the current Vikings head coach, worked with Williams and the Colts' defensive backs during the 2005 and 2006 seasons when he was a special assistant to head coach Tony Dungy.
There is no word yet on whether Williams will accept the Vikings' offer. But given that his most recent boss, Jim Caldwell, was fired as Colts head coach on Tuesday, Williams will have to seriously consider the deal.
Williams was also a defensive assistant in Tampa Bay in 2001, working under Dungy and on a staff that also included Monte Kiffin and Mike Tomlin.
Williams played college football at William & Mary, finishing his career in 1991. He later began his coaching career with stints at Norview High School in Virginia (1992-95) as well as at William & Mary (1996-2000).
