Adrian Peterson did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday as he received treatment on his sprained right ankle.

Peterson, however, said yesterday that he plans on testing the ankle today in practice. The NFL's third-leading rusher with 1,016 yards, Peterson was injured in the second quarter of last Sunday's game at Washington.

Peterson said Thursday the swelling had gone down in his ankle and he had improved flexibility. But the Vikings are going to be very careful with their star player and it likely will be a group decision on whether he plays. There is a good chance the Vikings will wait until Sunday morning before making a final decision.

If Peterson can't go, rookie Toby Gerhart figures to get his first NFL start.
