Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was expected to get an MRI today after leaving Sunday's victory over Washington in the second quarter because of an ankle injury.

After the game, coach Leslie Frazier said he did not know if Peterson had sprained his right ankle or done more damage than that. We should get an update at 12:30 this afternoon as Frazier holds his day-after-game news conference.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The Vikings are sitting at 4-7 and remain long shots to make any type of playoff run. Obviously, the team isn't going to put Peterson in a situation to do more damage to the ankle next Sunday against Buffalo, if there are concerns of that happening.

Peterson, though, is a guy who is willing to play through pain and while he likely will be limited in practice this week he probably will do his best to get back on the field come Sunday.

We also should find out more about the status of defensive end Ray Edwards, who underwent an MRI on his right ankle after injuring it just before halftime.

As always check back to Access Vikings for an update on Peterson and Edwards.
