My how things change in four days in the NFL. Monday night, the Jaguars were playing for a share of first place in the AFC South. Today, four days after getting smoked by the Titans in the worst Monday Night Football game in recent memory, it looks like Todd Bouman -- yes, THAT Todd Bouman -- will be starting at quarterback when the Jags travel to Kansas City this weekend.

David Garrard, who missed practice Wednesday and Thursday because of a concussion, was back at practice today, but did not participate. Under the NFL's protocol for concussions, that all but eliminates him from playing Sunday.

Second-teamer Trent Edwards, who was understandably awful on Monday, also missed practice Wednesday and Thursday. He took limited reps today, but most of the reps went to Bouman. The Jags also signed Patrick Ramsey this week. Talk about a motley crew of QBs.

Bouman, who was born in Ruthton, Minn., and lives in Pipestone, began the NFL season watching games on Sunday Ticket. The Jags signed him earlier this season, released him and signed him again this week.

The 38-year-old hasn't started a game in five years. He's 1-5 in six NFL starts since the Vikings signed him as an undrafted rookie out of St. Cloud State in 1997.

I'm sure Todd's a great guy and all, but all of these quarterback injuries should convince the NFL that adding two more regular season games is a bad idea. Besides Bouman, it's looking as though the Raiders might have to start third-stringer Kyle Boller because of injuries to Bruce Gradkowski and Jason Campbell. And Cardinals rookie free agent Max Hall, a former No. 3 QB this season, will start again in Seattle in his first road game as a starter.

The Browns also are down to their No. 3 QB, Colt McCoy, who is likely to get his second start when the Browns travel to New Orleans to get clobbered.

If the league goes to 18 games, there will be even fewer good players left by the time the playoffs start. The playoffs could end up looking like the UFL at some positions.

I'll be heading over to Lambeau Field soon. It's no Metrodome, but it'll do I suppose. Will give an update on the Pack later.
