The Vikings have to trim their roster to 53 players by 5 p.m. Saturday. Coach Brad Childress indicated the team won't notify players until Saturday but the team could start releasing some on Friday.

This is always an anxious time for players on the bubble. You could sense the uneasiness in the Vikings locker room Thursday night after the preseason finale against Denver.

“It’s a tough time,” safety Eric Frampton said. “It’s a tough time for everybody. When you go through OTAs and preseason you grow close to a lot of the guys. It’s a pretty sad time. I remember in Oakland they called it ‘Black Friday.’”

Sage Rosenfels had his Friday schedule mapped out. His future with the Vikings remains uncertain, but the veteran quarterback said he’ll go about business as usual.

“I’m going to come in, get a lift and start watching New Orleans film because that’s what I would do during a regular week,” Rosenfels said. “I’ll probably come in Saturday and do the same thing. Just wait and see what happens.”

The waiting game is not much fun even for those who appear safe. Receiver Greg Lewis is a lock to make the team, but he shared his emotions on his twitter account Friday morning.

“Up making breakfast for the wife and kids,” Lewis wrote. “Trying not to stress over these roster cuts. Very stressful time of year. Hurry up Saturday 5 p.m. This is going to be my eighth year in the league. Nothing is for sure n this business. As soon as u think u r ok u r not. I never get comfy.”
